Happy New Year!

January 2, 2015

Just as sure as the day is long,  I know at least one of your

'friends" posted on their FB or IG how they're going to catapult their lives this year into greatness. "New Year! New Me!" Blah Blah Blah....yada yada yada. We are just 12 days into the year and while I hate to be the bearer of bad news,  I'm positve resolutions have been forgotten, promises broken, sweets eaten and the gym  is still waiting.  What gives?  Why do we set ourselves up for resolution failure year in and year out?

For 2015, I rung in the new year going to a funeral of all places and boy did it get me ALL in my feelings. It forced me to think about all the time I've wasted doing things, saying things, worrying about things especially people that TRULY don't matter. I can't tell you how many hours I've lost marinating on people who I've wanted to impress or people I just had to please........uggh! Books and plays could have been written, trips could have be planned, love could have been made......

When you die (and you will, sorry to break it to you)  someone will speak over your lifeless body  and recount your character, your contributions to society, your achievements and name your loved ones. No one will be interested in your decades of deep seeded jealousy, worry, fear or competitive spirit or how you used to gossip for sport and wasted months of your precious life bickering and complaining to your spouse. No one will care about your wardrobe or your flabby thighs, because in death none of that will matter. You'll  BE DEAD! Life will go on :-/

What they will remember is how you affected lives around you for good and not evil. They will remember not what you said, but how you made them feel. As you can see, this funeral had me all in my feelings! lol But its so true, I tell ya! I've wasted so much TIME!

So this year  instead of making promises I know I can't keep, I decided to quiet myself and  detox anything or anyone toxic or negative. That's it!  Nothing earth shattering or talkshow worthy,

just resting in the idea that if it's not positive or worthy of my time/energy. I'm not doing it, giving it, or engaging in it. PERIOD.

I finally realized the word NO can be just as liberating as YES!

I feel lighter already:)
